Welcome to MWSM Summer School 2012!

Our summer school is a 6-week program, located at our school building in the Historic District of Framingham. This year it will begin on Monday, July 9th and run through Friday, August 17th. Each class usually meets twice a week for 2-4 hours depending on the grade level.
Who Can Benefit From Our Summer Program?
- The program is intended for any students
who recently joined the school and wish to catch up with their peers. The
students taking MWSM classes during the summer may
be able to skip the beginner level or
jump to a higher level next year.
- Students looking
for more unusual math problems
and exposure to more advanced topics may
wish to try our Summer Math Challenge classes. These
classes will also offer exposure to
problems from math competitions all over the world.
- For students preparing to take the SAT,
summer school is a great way to practice and improve
their scores without the distraction and pressure of
activities during the school year. Summer school SAT
preparation class will also provide opportunity for
the students who wish to prepare more thoroughly
for the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented
Youth test.
- For students who feel challenged by the math
curriculum in the past academic year this
is a perfect chance to boost their confidence and
address their shortcomings in 6 short weeks.
- Those who are
new to MWSM, can try our
program in summer without a long-term commitment and decide whether they would like to continue.
Summer School Payment Policy
- Full Summer Tuition payment is due at the time of the Application to reserve your child's seat.
- If your plans change, a full refund will be provided up to 30 days before the start of the school year. There will be no refunds after 2 weeks before the school starts.
- There are no refunds or make-up dates for classes missed for any reason, including illness.
- If you sign up after Summer School already started, your tuition will be prorated based on the remaining lasses from the date of your registration.
- A late registration fee is due for all current MWSM students who register for summer school after July 1st. Late registration fee is waived for new students who join MWSM after July 1st.
General Policies and Procedures
- MWSM accepts all students kindergarten age and up providing
they agree to abide by our rules and policies.
- E–mail is a preferred method of communication with
the school administration; however, if you wish, you
can contact the administration during the regular office
hours by phone or in person.
- All the special announcements (except weather
cancellations) are made through e–mail.
Please make sure you provide your current e-mail
and notify the administration of any changes, and please check your email regularly.
- Weather cancellations will be announced by 2 PM on
weekdays or by 8 AM on weekends on our web
site, and as a pre-recorded message on the school
phone. Please check the web site or call the school. Please
do not e–mail school administration or the teachers, as you may not get a reply in a timely manner. Please use your own discretion if the school has
not been canceled but the roads in your area are in
bad condition. As always, safety first!
- We discourage parents sitting in the classroom during
the lessons as it is disruptive to the class. If you
have a strong reason to request a sit-in, please contact
the school administration before contacting the teacher.
- We encourage parents to discuss their child’s
progress with teachers, but please limit it to the
time before or after class.
- The minimum class size at MWSM is 5 students. MWSM reserves the right to cancel any class with less than 5 students enrolled.

At the end of the class, please come to the reception area to pick up your child. Children will not be allowed to leave the building without their parent.
- If you arrange a carpool or have someone else pick up your child, please notify us in writing.

of their class. If you are late, our teachers
or office staff will stay with your child until the
child is picked up. However, $1/min charge is applied
to the student’s account for every minute after

Summer School FAQ
Q: My child is new to MWSM. For which
class should I sign him up?
A: Please contact info@metrowestschool.com to
schedule a placement test.
Q: What is the relationship between MWSM summer program classes and regular classes?
A: As a rule of thumb, a MWSM summer math class is an accelerated overview of the corresponding regular class.
Q: My child is currently
a MWSM student, but we joined late and she is struggling
a bit. Which class should I sign her up for?
A: You should sign
her up for the same class as she is taking right now. For
example, if she is in Level 2 now at MWSM, you should sign her
up for the summer Level 2 class.
Q: My child
is doing very well at MWSM. Will she still benefit
from summer school?
A: If your child
does not want to skip a level and does not need to catch
up on any material, we recommend
signing up for the appropriate Math Challenge class.
Q: My child is new to MWSM. Can she
still join a Math Challenge class?
A: Please contact us to schedule
a placement test.
Q: What is the fee for the Summer
School?
A: Please Consult Course Description and Fees table
Q: What is the
time commitment for summer school?
A: All regular Math classes meet twice a week for 6 weeks. Of course, there is homework as well.
Q: I am leaving on vacation in the middle of the summer school. Can I pay a pro-rated fee?
A: No, according to our Payment Policy, you commit to the entire Summer School program fee. However, we will provide you with the homework and class assignment for the time you are away, so that your child can keep up with the program. Many of our families have successfully used this option over the years.
