We are an affiliate of the Russian School of Mathematics, serving over 40 communities in the MetroWest area and beyond. Our mission is to build a solid classical math foundation for students of all levels and backgrounds, to develop strong logical thinking skills, and to nourish the appreciation of the beauty of mathematics. We supplement classical math instruction with elements of recreational mathematics incorporated into the everyday program. We offer regular puzzle contests for all ages (including for our parents!), and provide training for and access to key national and international math competitions.  Come to our Open House and bring your friends! You will learn about us and our program, and your child can take a placement test at the same time. Please register for the placement test to guarantee availability by phone or e-mail. Where and When: MWSM, 5 Auburn Street, Framingham, MA Saturday 9/11 at 11 am-1 pm and Sunday 9/12 at 2 pm - 4 pm.
About Our Program
 We offer math Instruction to K-12 students after school, on weekends, and during the summer.
Our K-5 elementary school program meets once a week. In these two hours (1.5 hours for kindergarten) we solidify the students' school math skills and expose them to concepts they rarely see in their regular programs, introducing algebra as early as in kindergarten and first grade! Early exposure to algebra and logic problems is proven to accelerate cognitive development. As we help our students build critical thinking skills and approach problem solving with confidence, they soon learn to love math rather than fear it.
The road to college starts in middle school. This is the time to lay a solid foundation in algebra and geometry, from which students can build the higher-level math skills sought by the best colleges. Children who start our program earliest get furthest ahead. Our 6th graders meet once a week for 3 hours, and 7th graders and up typically meet once or twice a week for 4 hours of algebra and geometry.
High school is the time to keep working towards college admissions. It is never too late to join, and improved GPA, SAT and AP scores will speak volumes about your child at college admissions time. The strong math and thinking skills gained at MetroWest will benefit your student though the college years.
Our Math Challenge classes, offered in spring and summer, are dedicated to solving unusual problems and special topics in mathematics not covered in our mainstream program. These classes foster "outside-the-box" mental flexibility useful in math competitions and in real-life creative problem solving.
In addition to our math program, we offer a variety of supplementary courses such as Chess, Creative Writing, and English SAT Preparation. See our complete Program description for all courses. Our summer school program offers six weeks of intensive exposure to a subject (double the usual hours per week) designed to reinforce the concepts learned in the previous year or introduce the concepts to be covered in the upcoming year.

...The MetroWest School is an excellent resource for after-school math education for our two kids in grades 4 and 8. The school is everything one could hope for in an after-school math program: the school is close to most suburbs in MA, and it has very professional and competent teachers, who know education for K-12 kids very well, and have a true passion for teaching math to kids. Math Challenge
Math Challenge is a 10-week class offered at two levels: 3-5 gradres and 6th-8th
graders. This class, offred after the annual Math Competition season comes to a close by the end of March, provides
an opportunity to cover a number of advanced topics for
which there is usually no time in the mainstream curriculum. In
addition, the class covers a variety of logic problems and
unusual problems requiring mental flexibility. Teacher recommendation or a placement
interview may be required to enter this class.

Johns Hopkins CTY
(SAT) Preparation
MWSM offers preparation for the SAT test given annually as
part of the admission criteria to the Johns Hopkins University
Center for Talented Youth (CTY). Students admitted to the CTY program have access to a variety of high-level academic and enrichment courses. Much of the preparation
for JHU CTY already occurs within our standard program. Additionally, we offer Summer SAT preparation for those students who are considering applying to JHU CTY next January and want to strengthen their SAT skills without the stress of extra work during the school year. We also offer a series of workshops leading up to the January SAT test.

MWSM offers this intensive course to high school students.
It includes complete preparation for the new SAT tests, including
theory, problem-solving techniques, and extensive practice.

English Classes
SAT Verbal Preparation
This class will prepare students to tackle the Critical Reading and Writing sections
of the new SAT. The course will also teach essay-writing techniques
for the SAT and beyond. Students will write practice
essays weekly.

Creative Writing
Creative Writing (for grades 3-5 and 6-9) gives students the opportunity to explore their own talents as writers, poets, and journalists. Students encounter a variety of writing techniques, genres, and styles. They will improve the mechanics of writing while enjoying the art of self-expression.
